Almond mylks from Allnut

The wellness blogosphere has been going bananas about dairy free mylks and celebrities have been waxing eloquently about the beauty benefits of nut mylks. I, for one, love how decadent, creamy and satisfying almond milk tastes. When I saw the influx of almond milk retailers in Delhi- I was thrilled. Allnut, a Delhi based health food initiative sent over a few bottles of almond mylk for me to try.

I had the Basil, Vanilla, Cinnamon and Raw Cacao over the course of two days. The mylks came in glass bottles with cute labelling and not served in BPA plastic- which contains harmful neurotoxins. Priced between 200-220 for each bottle, the mylks were a substantial serving. I incorporated mine into my daily diet in various ways. The cinnamon and the vanilla were my absolute favourites so I drank them half before I poured some into my chia breakfast porridge.

Recipe-
1 tbsp of cold pressed coconut oil
Berries or pomegranate
a few chunks of papaya
Vanilla to taste
2 tbsp of chia seeds
1 tsp of flax seed
and half a bottle of either the vanilla or the cinnamon almond mylk

I drank the basil one by itself but didn’t like the taste very much. The basil was too overpowering for me and it left a bit of an aftertaste. The raw cacao is an interesting decoction but make sure you shake it really well before drinking it. I added a tiny bit of filter coffee and ice and blended it with the raw cacaco mylk. The result was a decadent and delicious beverage and I have started putting a tiny bit of raw cacao into my coffee and smoothies for its antioxidants.

Allnut was founded by Sakshi Khanna Hari and Aklush Hari in August 2015. Based on the premise that health food can be delicious and dairy free alternatives are healthier for you because they don’t have antibiotics or hormones or preservatives. They felt there was a huge gap in this space and they decided to create organic mylks that were made from activated almonds with absolutely no additives, preservatives or flavouring agents. They believe in using raw honey, sea salt to season and add raw cacao, cinnamon and organic vanilla from the south.

After months of research, the founders Sakshi and her husband came up with the name Allnut . Allnut means it’s full of nuts and nothing else. It also means that we are all a little crazy and we all need a little love. They plan to launch pistachio , hazelnut , cashew , coconut milks , butters, cheeses and yogurts – made pure and simple without artificial additives and preservatives.

Almond milks are rich sources of protein, calcium, omega 3, potassium and make for a great alternative for vegans and those going dairy free. A cup of unsweetened almond milk is only between 40-50 calories and it is lower carb than other dairy products which makes it a suitable choice for weight watchers. Also unless you have a serious nut intolerance or allergy, switching to nut milk will help alleviate your sinuses, prevent colds and coughs and strengthen your immune system. Allnut almond mylk is far superior to store-bought almond mylk because it doesn’t contain any artificial flavours, preservatives or additives.

Where to buy?
You can subscribe to one of our packages from the website www.allnut.in , or mail us on hello@allnut.in and we will get in touch with you . For home deliveries call +91-9818098608 or +91-9910994234.

Verdict- they are delicious but remember to shake well before you drink them. If you can’t drink more than one a day don’t buy a whole lot because they have a shelf life of only 72 hours. They wont burn a hole in your pocket and these babies cost between 200-220. Available in the following flavours at the moment- unsweetened, basil, vanilla, cinnamon and raw cacao. The Vanilla and Cinnamon were our favourites of the lot. Can’t wait to order again. Also a little birdie tells me that they plan on making their own dairy free, vegan cheeses and spreads so watch out Delhi.

P.S- thank you so much Allnut for this delicious experience and the mug. Photo credits- http://www.naturallylush.com
